PETERSEN MEDIA- Chad Boespflug entertained the crowd at the Lincoln Park Speedway on Saturday night as a slide-job fest broke out at the front of the pack, and when the double checkered flew, it was Boespflug picking up his third win of the season aboard the storied Paul Hazen No. 57.
“I hope that was as fun for the fans as it was in my seat,” Boespflug said. “AJ Hopkins and I got sliding each other there for a while, and unfortunately we made some contact and he got off the track, but it wasn’t intentional, we had been sliding back and forth for a bunch of laps before that.”
Starting in the second row of his heat race aboard his Physical Medical Consultants/K&N/Weld Wheels entry, Boespflug was able to drive to the heat race win, putting the Hazen machine safely in the inversion.
With the inversion going his way, Boespflug lined up on the front row of the feature event, and when the action went green, he quickly jumped out the front of the pack, with AJ Hopkins right on his tail.
Though the race was marred with cautions, the green flag action was worth it as Boespflug and Hopkins would swap the top spot in each pair of corners with some very exciting slide jobs.
With the track slick, and tacky in spots, it put on a great show, and even in traffic the duo kept up their torrid battle.
As the laps wound down, Hopkins and Boespflug made contact with Hopkins’ machine getting off the track and bringing outa yellow, putting Jerry Coons, Jr on his rear bumper.
When the action picked back up, the battle continued, and as they got in heavy traffic as well, the battle got even more exciting.
On the last lap of the race it looked as if Coons would get the better of Boespflug in dense traffic, but Boespflug was able to make a great move down the back stretch and off of turn four to secure his third win of the season.
“It was a heard fought race, and I can’t thank Paul Hazen for continuing to work hard on his car, and put us in a great position on a weekly basis,” he added.”
Chad would like to thank Midwest Shades, ButlerBuilt, Creative Finishing, Bell Helmets, Hinchman, Wilwood, Shaw’s Vintage Stuff, Bud’s Auto Sales, Physical Medical Consultants, K&N, and Weld Wheels for their support.
