Plainfield, IN- A cold dreary weekend in Indiana put a damper on Chad Boespflug's initial plans. Boespflug and the SST Motorsports Team were scheduled to race LPS and Kokomo this past weekend, but mother nature had a different plan. Instead the team was forced to travel further south to Lawrenceburg Speedway Saturday as LPS canceled all events due to cold temperatures and overnight rain.
A field of 36 cars signed in to compete at The Burg. Motor trouble early under the hood of the 41 was not the way they wanted to start the night. The team worked quickly to repair the motor before the start of the heat race. Boespflug started third and finished fourth in the heat transferring on to the AMain. Finishing outside of the top two in a heat missed the redraw for the feature lineup. Missing the redraw Boespflug lined up 14th for the AMain. He fought break issues throughout the main and fell back to finish 18th.
The team then traveled north to Kokomo Speedway for the first Sunday night race of the season. A field of 32 cars signed in for the King of Kokomo event. Group qualifying is the format that Kokomo uses for all local events to line up heat races. Missing the setup in hot laps Boespflug timed 7th quick landing him a deep starting spot for the first of four heat races. Boespflug made his was into the fifth spot before the checkers flew missing the transfer by one sending the 41 to the front of the BMain. The team made some changes to the car before the start of the BMain. Boespflug picked up the BMain win transferring into the back of the AMain. A few more adjustments were made before pushing out for the AMain. Boespflug used the low line to his advantage to move forward in the feature. Boespflug scored another top 10 finish for the SST Motorsports Team, finishing 10th after starting 18th.
Chad will return to the NineEight Motorsports / EZR 98e for this weekend Amsoil USAC National double header. The two day race weekend kicks off at Gas City I-69 Speedway for the May Meltdown Friday followed by Brownstown Speedway Saturday. Boespflug will round out the weekend in the SST 41 at Kokomo Speedway on Sunday.
