Marion, IN - Benic Enterprises, a name synonymous with sprint and midget car racing, announced the resurrection of the 2B Racing, LLC, non-wing sprint car program, which hasn’t raced since May of 2012, when Bobby East drove to victory lane at the Larry Rice Classic at Bloomington Speedway. Owned by husband-and-wife team Scott and Dana Benic, the new team puts California-transplant Chad Boespflug behind the wheel and will compete in the new Xtreme Outlaw non-wing series recently formed by the World of Outlaws.
Scott Benic, the 1994 World of Outlaws Crew Chief of the Year and USAC Racing’s only Triple Crown Crew Chief, said “Dana and I are extremely excited to work on putting the 2B Racing Team back and on the track and hope to find speed out of the box beginning next month at Volusia Speedway for Round 1 of the new series. We will still be part of the Goodnight Racing team and hope to continue that relationship for the foreseeable future. Working with Chad should bring some fun and excitement to the fold. He had great speed in recent years and then stepped away from driving duties over the last few to concentrate on business ventures, but now is ready to step back in with both feet on the gas.”
Boespflug, whose resume includes nine career USAC National Sprint Car wins and a sweep of the inaugural Rock and Roll Gold Cup weekend at Badlands Motor Speedway, is equally as thrilled. “Not racing but a few times in 2021 was a good reset for me,” he said. “I was just burnt out from chasing it for so long. I would have raced more but the right opportunities just didn’t present themselves. The chance to race for Scott Benic and 2B Racing has me excited to go racing again. It’s going to be a really fun year and I can’t wait to get back after it.”
Benic is partnering with the Lake Ozark Performance Expo in this racing effort, an all-new motorsports and automotive aftermarket trade show which takes place in Lake Ozark, MO, November 11-13th. The Lake Ozark Performance Expo will host manufacturers, exhibitors, and vendors from across the racing, custom vehicle, and performance aftermarket industry. Racers, restorers, and enthusiasts from throughout the Midwest will be able to see new products and services from hundreds of exhibitors, as well as attend technical seminars and admire a wide spectrum of show cars and trucks.
The new 2B Racing, LLC non-wing sprint cars will utilize Maxim Chassis, ride on Afco shocks, and have motors built by the venerable Claxton Engines. The team is very happy to have already secured a number of great sponsors, including Afco, Capitol Custom Trailers and Coaches, Champion Oil. CTech Manufacturing, DMI Machine, Goodnight Racing, Hoosier Tire, The Swindell Group, and XYZ Machining.
