Plainfield, IN - This past Saturday Chad returned to a familiar ride, strapping into the Paul Hazen 57 for the Eldora Speedway Finale. The duoreunited to competed with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS).
A strong field of over 50 BOSS non wing sprint cars filled the pits. With standard BOSS format pill draw lined up six heat races that were followed by two b-mains. Chad started 3rd in heat race six. He searched all over the race track to gain ground and run down the race leader as he found himself in second after the start. Chad came up just a few car lengths short of the heat race win finishing 2nd. A 2nd place finish in heat race competition earned him a spot in the redraw for a-main starting position. Chad was the last to draw as a result of being in the last heat race. The 10 pill was the one that remained. Chad would line up 10th in the 25 lap BOSS A-Main.
The initial feature start worked to Chad's advantage as cars split and he drove right through the middle passing up to 6th. With a fast race car he was able to work his was up to the runner up position trailing leader Robert Ballou. A late race caution closed the gap of the race lead that Ballou had gained. Along with the yellow came a talented Bryan Clauson on Chad's heels. With five laps remaining Chad was unable to hold off Clauson and he finished 3rd. A strong podium finish for both Chad and Paul Hazen Racing. "The 57 was awesome all night. I drove to 2nd from 10th, but Clauson got by me with 5 laps to go so we ended up third. I had a blast working with the old team again," Boespflug said following the a-main.
"I am thankful Paul asked me to race this past weekend to fill in while Cottle was away. We clicked right off the bat and we had a strong car all night." - Chad Boespflug
