Plainfield, IN -After regrouping from their trip on the East Coast the Amati Racing Inc. Team prepared the #66 to compete in part of the sprint car portion of USAC Racing's Indiana Midget Week. Starting their week off at Lincoln Park Speedway in Putnamville, IN with a strong field of cars as some USAC drivers did double duty in the sprint cars and midgets. This year the primary focus of midget week for Chad was the sprint car as he did n...ot have a midget ride as he did in 2014. Transferring out of the heat race but missing the invert put him starting mid pack for the AMain. A deep starting spot proved to be no challenge for Chad as he worked his way through the pack and up to a podium finishing positions. Chad held on to a 3rd place finish coming up just short of the leaders. Chad expressed, "I wish it would have been a 25 lap race instead of the shortened 20 laps because I think we had a strong enough car, one very capable of winning."
Friday night at the Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN didn't quite go as smooth as the night before. Transferring through the heat race into the AMain the team was confident in the heat race performance and began preparing the car for the feature event. Unfortunately what they discovered as they checked things over was that they had broke a valve in the motor that would end their night short. A disappointment all around to say the least. Now down a motor left Chad searching for another ride for the remainder of the weekend.
Early Saturday morning Chad confirmed he would pilot the Krockenberger Racing 21K at Lincoln Park Speedway. Returning to the track were he had scored a podium finish earlier in the week. He would be driving the car that won the 2014 track championship at LPS so he was confident they would be a tough competitor even though they haven't worked together before. He had some trouble passing cars in the heat race as the track was pretty narrow. It was like deja vu for Chad having to start in the 6th row for the AMain for the second time this week. Making both the top and bottom lanes work as be fought hard to pass slower cars to make his way to the front. He gained the 3rd spot around halfway and began to pull away from the pack as he tried to real in the leaders. Yet again he held on to a 3rd place finish earning him another podium finish.
This week Shane Wade, Owner of the Amati Racing Inc. 66 is working hard to get the motor program back together so they can compete in the Historic Chuck Amati Classic this Saturday at Paragon International Speedway in Paragon, IN.
