Plainfield, IN - The 2015 Amsoil USAC Eastern Storm that is. A scheduled 5 nights of racing in 6 days was shortened by weather. Raining out Tuesday and Wednesday's scheduled programs Chad found something else to pass the time. What else better to do than to race some more?
Chad landed a ride in a 600 micro sprint for Wednesday night at Action Track USA located in Kutztown, PA. The venue races Wednesday nights throughout the summer featuring speedsters, 600 micro sprints, and slingshots. Chad climbed back behind the wheel of a 600 taking him back to his early years of racing. Chad competed in micro sprints prior to moving into sprint cars back home in California. They didn't have the results they had hoped for but still had a blast competing. Huge thank you to Eric Whitby for opening up the seat of his micro sprint for Chad to have the opportunity to race.
Thursday Chad was back to USAC competition returning to the seat of the Amati Racing, Inc. #66 at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, NJ. Chad transferred through his heat race into the AMain, but with not the best qualifying run he would start mid pack in the feature event. Despite the deep starting position Chad was able to score a top 10 finish finishing 10th.
Back into Pennsylvania the team traveled for Saturday nights event at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, PA. Chad a strong run in the heat race jumping out to the early lead before veteran Dave Darland slipped by him. Still finishing a strong 2nd in the heat race put him into the feature event. Chad started 15th in the AMain where they just weren't as strong as they had been in the heat race missing the setup and going on to finish 17th.
Following Port Royal the team traveled south about an hour to compete the final night of the USAC Eastern Storm at Susquehanna Speedway Park in York Haven, PA. Chad and the Amati Racing Team had the #66 fast right out of the gate qualifying 9th out of 28 cars. The higher qualifying position put Chad a litter further back in the heat race lineup but that proved to be no challenge for him. After getting shuffled back to 6th on the start he battled back to finish 2nd in the heat race transferring to the AMain. Going back to time trial positions for the AMain lineup put Chad starting 9th. He had a fast car from the get go making both the top and bottom groves work to his advantage. Just after halfway Chad saw himself in a three wide battle for the third position lap after lap of good clean hard racing. Crossing the checkers in 6th Chad scored the second top 10 finish of the week. Making all three feature events the Amati Racing Team is confident as they head into the sprint car portion of USAC Midget Week this week.
