Boespflug Returns for Smackdown

Plainfield, IN - Chad Boespflug has been released following the removal of stitches from the injury he sustained August 8th while racing at Amsoil Speedway in Superior, WI.  He is scheduled to return behind the wheel of the Amati Racing, Inc. #66 Amsoil USAC Sprint Car Wednesday August 26th at Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, IN.

Chad and the Amati Racing Team will travel north midweek to what some may call the best dirt track in the state of Indiana. A track that typically races on Sunday evenings hosts a three day event bringing the best of the best in nonwing sprint car racing together to compete in the “Kokomo Smackdown”.  An event that most USAC teams look forward to just as much as if not more than USAC Indiana Sprint Week. Kokomo Smackdown has grown over the last few years to become one of the largest USAC Racing events hosted in none other than USAC Racing’s home state of Indiana. Boespflug will first compete Wednesday in a makeup feature event that he is already locked into from the USAC Indiana Sprint Week rain out. He and the Amati Team will then switch their focus over to Smackdown for the next three days.

Boespflug says, “I look forward to Smackdown every year not only for the racing but because it’s a big weekend for the fans too. The O’Connor's, Kokomo Speedway Track Promoter's, do a great job preparing the track for us, but they also do a lot to benefit the fans as well.” This weekend Kokomo Speedway is offering free general admission to Wednesday nights makeup event. Live music and entertainment for the drivers and fans following Thursday and Friday’s races. Kokomo Speedway and Melinda Stanbrough will also host a charity kickball game in the tracks infield on Saturday afternoon. Following the kickball game a driver autograph session is also scheduled to offer fans a chance to meet and greet with drivers before Saturday nights races begin.

The Kick-it For Children's Cancer Event has been hosted by Kokomo Speedway & Melinda Stanbrough for the past few year during Smackdown. Boespflug looks forward to playing in the event again this year as well as donating items to be auctioned off as all of the proceeds go to help kids fighting cancer. Jeff Gordon teamed up with the Kick-it organization a few years back and it has grown and become an event that the sprint car community hosts at various venues across the country. Kokomo Smackdown has become the host for the Indiana Kick-it Game. This year’s Kick-it Game will take place Saturday August 29th from 12-2pm in the tracks infield prior to the start of all racing events.

Chad will be a participant in both the Kick-it For Children's Cancer Game as well as the Driver Autograph Session. For those fans that aren’t able to make Saturday’s Kick-it Game or Autograph Session Chad will be signing autographs at his merchandise trailer before each nights events as well.
