Boespflug Sets His Sights on a New Venture

Plainfield, IN-  The common household distinction between sprint car racing is does someone race wing or non wing. Both types of sprint car racing can be found throughout the US, New Zealand, and Australia. Wing versus non wing has heavy pockets of competition saturated across the country. The heart of non wing racing is throughout the state of Indiana and the heart of wing racing is primarily within Central Pennsylvania. California is a little different it plays the host for both wing and non wing competition alike. Although a California native where the opportunity to race either is prevalent Chad Boespflug chose the non wing path in his racing career. After relocating from the West Coast to the Midwest in 2007 Boespflug has called Indiana home for nearly the past decade chasing his passion of non wing sprint car racing. With what some would call a breakout year with his newly formed NineEight Motorsports / EZR Amsoil USAC National non wing sprint car team Boespflug has picked up five USAC National Wins. A successful year for the team and Boespflug's first full season chasing the USAC National schedule is coming to a close. Only five races remain, those in Arizona and California, when the series travels west the first two weeks of November.

With a break in the USAC schedule this week Boespflug will take advantage of the down time to try his hand at wing racing for the first time in his career. The opportunity has presented itself and came together in the past few weeks for Boespflug to compete in the final weekend of World of Outlaw competition this weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Charlotte, NC for the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals. Boespflug will pilot the Wayne Quackenbush owned Capitol Renegade - Capitol Custom Trailers #91 Maxim Chassis for the three day event. He had the opportunity to test with the team at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven, PA a few weeks back. With the help of his non wing Crew Chief Davey Jones the duo was able to improve in each practice session. By the end Boespflug, Jones, and Quackenbush were pleased with the progress and finalized plans for Boespflug to make the trip south. The weekend that lies ahead will be filled with the toughest competition wing racing presents throughout the WoO season aside from the Knoxville Nationals. The goal is to get Boespflug comfortable in the car and the three days of competition will offer a large amount off seat time for that to happen.

"I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to get the seat time and some more laps under my belt in a wing car. The only break in our USAC schedule means we have to travel to North Carolina to race. If we can put it in the show for Wayne Quackenbush and the Capitol Renegade Team that will be like a win for me. I'm going down there with an open mind and to have fun while gaining some experience. It will be a learning curve to overcome, but the practice session at Susky a few weeks ago was very helpful. We had the opportunity to shake the car down and make some adjustments prior to making the trip to World Finals, so I feel good about going. It's going to be a busy weekend of racing and then we fly home early Sunday to turn right around and make the tow to Arizona to start our west coast swing, so its going to be hectic, but worth it for the experience." - Chad Boespflug reflects on his upcoming venture.
