Plainfield, IN - Booking a 6am flight following a late night of racing is probably not at the top of most racers priority lists, but that was the flight booked by Chad Boespflug without question. Taking off from Charlotte, NC Sunday before the sun came up was high on his priority list as he had little time to spare to return to his Plainfield, IN based shop. Returning from what some would consider a disappointing weekend after failing to qualify for either night during World Finals, is the furthest from the truth for Boespflug.

"The goal was to get some laps under my belt, fine tune the car, and learn as much as I could since it was my first wing race. We did all of the above and them some, so I consider this weekend a win all around. Each time out I improved despite struggling with some brake issues that we fine tuned by Saturday. Its a different animal and I, nor the Capitol Renegade Team, expected to make the show given my lack of experience and the stout field of cars. I'm happy with the weekend and look forward to getting more wing racing experience in the future." - Chad Boespflug reflects on his first weekend behind the wheel of a wing sprint car

The since of urgency for Boespflug to return back to Indiana was due to the limited amount of time he had to make final preparations on his personal non wing sprint car before the Amsoil USAC National West Coast Swing. Even though Boespflug and Crew Chief Davey Jones were away wing racing for the weekend that did not mean the work stopped in the 98e camp. NineEight Motorsports / EZR Crew Member Jason Keefer was busy getting things done around the shop, things that often get pushed aside, but can not go unnoticed such as truck and trailer maintenance. When Boespflug returned early Sunday morning he quickly returned his focus to the remaining USAC National races. The entire 98e team assembled to get everything loaded and buttoned up as they only had a few hours to get things wrapped up. The team left Monday to tackle the 1,700 miles that lied ahead. The first stop of the Amsoil USAC National West Coast Tour is Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley, Arizona, the new home of Western World. The two day event will be preceded by a practice night Thursday. Following the two days in Arizona the team will travel west an additional 400 miles before reaching the final stop of the USAC National schedule, Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. A little different format in the USAC schedule this year has the prestigious Oval Nationals at The P.A.S. playing host to the final points races of the season. Years prior the Western World was the deciding factor in finalizing the series points. It only seems fitting the way the schedule has been rearranged for the largest payout and most coveted title to be the final races of the season. Boespflug sits 6th in overall driver and owner points going into the final five races.

Boespflug discusses how this years west coast trip will be different than years past, - "I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to compete in both Western World and Ovals the past couple years for various car owners. I am excited about making the long tow for the first time with my own team. Having the chance to race these bigger races on the USAC National schedule in a car that I raced all season that I am comfortable in I think will be an advantage that I haven't had the past two years. We are just barely outside of the top five in points going into these final races and I think we are more than capable to advancing before the season comes to an end."
