Boespflug Beefs Up an Already Busy Schedule

Plainfield, IN- Chad Boespflug is set to enter one the most grueling season he has competed in year to date. Setting out to tackle the entire Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car schedule as an owner / driver operation for the first time. Years past Boespflug has competed in approximately half of the USAC scheduled dates solely as a driver. However this seasons new venture holds an intense schedule. One that sees Boespflug strapping into the NineEight Motorsports/ EZR 98e over 50 times traveling across 12 different states to compete at the highest level of non wing sprint car competition. Juggling travel time, expenses, and a full time day job Boespflug will be pressed for hardly any additional spare time. With that said the opportunity for Boespflug to race much more than a few local races between USAC competition in the 98e will be tough.

During the off season Boespflug was approached to compete in a "hit and miss" type of schedule in addition to his already committed NineEight Motorsports / EZR schedule. The idea of someone else providing equipment, maintaining cars, and taking care of getting the cars to and from the track for any additional races was one Boespflug couldn't pass by.

"It was the opportunity to be able to more or less just show up at the track ready to race with all of the behind the scenes stuff taken care of already. That made this decision to fill in my schedule with additional races a lot easier. Having a full time job in addition to racing makes it difficult to do much more with my own stuff than we have already set out to do. Thankfully my boss is understanding of the travel and time away from the office that is needed, but this allows me to not have to take as much time away from work." - Boespflug expresses why this decision was the best fit for him.

Boespflug is set to pilot the SST Motorsports Physical Medicine Consultants #41 DRC Chassis, co-owned by David S. Stensland and his father David A. Stensland for approximately 30 additional races in 2016. SST Motorsports was established by the father son duo in the fall of 2005. Fielding cars for likes of Dave Darland and Thomas Meseraull.  Boespflug has raced for SST Motorsports on occasion over the past few seasons, even picking up a win their first night together at Lincoln Park Speedway in 2013. The focus behind this pairing is to compete at a local level making appearances at Bloomington Speedway, Gas City Speedway, Kokomo Speedway, and Lincoln Park Speedway. In addition the SST schedule will included all sprint car appearances during Indiana Midget Week the beginning of June.

"SST Motorsports is excited to have a veteran sprint car driver like Chad Boespflug behind the wheel of the #41 DRC chassis/Kercher Engines entry for a number of races in 2016.  Having been paired together for a few races in the past, including a win at Putnamville in 2013 the first time he was in the car, we are pleased to have Chad in the car for an extended period of time this season.  Every time we have had the opportunity to work together, I have always learned something more about our cars setup through the excellent feedback Chad has provided.  He has conducted himself professionally and has always added an element of fun to our nights at the track.  Chad has the unique ability to analyze a car to identify areas lacking in the setup, make the appropriate changes and jump into the seat and gas it up with some of the best sprint car drivers in the country.  We hope to provide Chad with a quality ride for selected local shows in 2016 to augment the ambitious USAC schedule that he will run in his NineEight Motorsports 98 with the support of Eberhardt Zirzow Racing (EZR).  This joint venture will allow Chad to focus on the maintenance of his primary team, but continue to hone his skills during the limited breaks in the USAC schedule.  It is my hope that this Win-Win business proposition will find victory lane a number of times this season." - David S. Stensland spoke on behalf of SST Motorsports.

Heartbreak for Boespflug and RAB Racing at Chili Bowl 2016

Plainfield, IN- Tuesday January 12th kicked off the 30th Annual Chili Bowl Nationals in Tulsa, OK. Over 345 cars entered this years events. Four Preliminary Nights took place Tuesday through Friday consisting of heat races, qualifiers, a D, C, B, and AMain. Preliminary night finishing orders would collectively line up all of Saturday's races.

Chad Boespflug's preliminary night took place Tuesday against 84 of approximately 345 total competitors. Pill draw for heat races was in his favor drawing a low number that would in result place him on the pole of one of eleven heat races. Accumulated passing points from all racing events throughout the preliminary night would line up all events following heat races. Therefore it was key for Boespflug to maintain position and get out front of the field quickly to earn the most possible points. He did just that, got the jump on the initial start and maintained the first position the entire heat race
earning he and the RAB Racing Team a heat race win. Winning his heat race and earning the maximum points he was eligible for placed Chad in the top 40 in passing points, locking them into one of four Qualifier's.

Qualifier lineups inverted the top 24 of the 40 in passing points placing Boespflug in a front row starting position once again. Same goal was in mind for the qualifier as in the heat race, to maintain position to earn the most points possible. Boespflug took the lead on the initial start and maintained it until lap 4 before loosing a hard fought back and forth battle with Spencer Bayston. Bayston took over the lead on lap 4, but Boespflug battled back to regain the lead just as a caution came out. Boespflug lines up second on the restart and gave it all he had to regain the lead back, but came up a little short and finished second in Qualifier #1. His performance in both the heat race and qualifier placed him 12th in overall points out of 85 cars, locking him into the 25 lap AMain.

Earning the 12th starting position in the AMain marked the third year in a row that Boespflug transferred into the AMain on his preliminary night straight through qualifying. That is a feat in itself against such tough competition. He and the RAB Racing Team were thrilled to be locked into the AMain once again. Boespflug had a strong car prepared by he and his team to start the AMain. He quickly passed his way up to a top 5 position trailing four successful midget regulars. Note Boespflug has competed in less than five total midget races in his career, three of which took place at the Chili Bowl. Boespflug maintained his momentum to keep himself in the hunt for potentially a podium finish by running the high side banging off the cushion lap after lap. A late race hard charging Joey Saldana was able to sneak by Boespflug on the bottom with just a few laps remaining, he dropped back just once position and went on to finish sixth.

"What a fun night. Had a great car tonight. Can't thank the RAB guys enough for all the hard work all night." - Chad Boespflug said following Tuesday's race.

Finishing in the top 10 in a preliminary night AMain earned you a starting spot in either the A or BMain for Saturday's main event. The past two years Boespflug has been locked into a CMain for Saturday competition. His performance this year in preliminary competition advanced him to a BMain starting position for Saturday. He would line up 6th in the first of two BMain's. Each BMain would take the top six transfers on to the 55 lap Chili Bowl AMain finale.

"Pretty pumped for today's chances to put it in the AMain tonight." - Boespflug said once finding out he was starting in a transfer position for Saturday's BMain.

Boespflug lined up in the 6th starting position for the first BMain with one thing on his mind, put it in the big show. To do just that he needed to maintain his starting position or move forward. At the drop of the green he took off with what appeared to be a hard charging car that was hooked up once again. Boespflug completed one lap and began to fall back after advancing with the leaders the lap prior. Exiting turn two on lap #2 it was apparent that the #57B was in trouble puffing out a lot of smoke. As the car slowed on the backstretch the heartbreak of being that close to an AMain starting spot in the Chili Bowl Nationals sunk in throughout the RAB Racing pit area. Boespflug himself maintained composure despite the disappointment of a blown motor after making it so far.

"Dang it. We had a great car. Just wish the motor would have held on. Although we had a disappointing ending to our run in Tulsa we improved and I improved. In the three years I've gone to the Chili Bowl I've made my prelim night AMain through my qualifier and have made the CMain on Saturday twice and the BMain once. We had a great shot at the A this year but it was just not meant to be. I have to thank Bill and Amy Ecker and the entire RAB Racing Team for the opportunity to race for them once again, we had fun. Thank you to everyone that made this trip happen yet again." - Boespflug reflects on his 2016 Chili Bowl trip.

Boespflug Returns to RAB Racing for Chili Bowl

Plainfield, IN- As we are close to entering the start of 2016 in just a few days, with no explanation needed we all know what January brings for our racing community. None other than the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals. 2016 marks the 30th annual running of the Chili Bowl Nationals presented by General Tire held at the River Spirit Expo Center in Tulsa, OK.

Chad Boespflug is pleased to announce he will return to the seat of the RAB Racing 57B for the third consecutive year. Boespflug has become quite comfortable in the Bill Ecker owned midget at the Chili Bowl. The pair along with the help of the RAB Racing Team have made the A-main through qualifying heats the past two years on their preliminary nights. In addition they have earned a starting spot in the C-Main both years starting one position higher in 2015 than 2014. In both years Boespflug passed cars in the C-Main, but failed to transfer on to the next event in Saturday night competition.

For those of you that are not as familiar with the Chili Bowl format making the C-Main lineup for Saturday's event through accumulated points earned your preliminary night is a feat in itself. With over 330 midget entries not having to run "alphabet soup" as we call it on Saturday is something to be proud of. Being able to start as far forward on Saturday is always the goal, but earning a starting position in at least the C-Main guarantees you the opportunity to race in one of the largest live television broadcasts year to date on MAVTV.

Boespflug heads into this years Chili Bowl with the same expectations as years past, make the A on his preliminary night, and earn as many points possible to be sitting well going into Saturday's show. His preliminary race night is still to be determined. Practice will be held Monday January 11th with preliminary events Tuesday through Friday January 12th - 15th, followed by the $10,000 to win main event Saturday January 16th.

Follow along to Chad's Facebook Fanpage for race results and updates. For those of you that cant make it in attendance the Chili Bowl Nationals is available for pay per view at www.racingboys.com for Tuesday through Saturday's D-Main. Saturday's C, B, and A-Main can be watched LIVE on MAVTV.

Boespflug Joins Forces with Eberhardt Zirzow Racing for 2016

Plainfield, IN- For the past three seasons Chad Boespflug has driven for numerous car owners and has had much success. Picking up eighteen combined wins, thus including one Amsoil USAC National win. As he heads toward the start of the 2016 season he has decided to switch things up a bit and return to an owner / driver operation. Boespflug has owned and raced his personal NineEight Motorsports 98 in years past. He feels by doing this he can stay much more faithful to his sponsors and fans. The opportunity to return to the familiar 98 has been made possible with continued support of loyal sponsors as well as some new additions. Boespflug is pleased to announce he as an owner / driver combination will join forces with Eberhardt Zirzow Racing (EZR) for the 2016 Season.

Chuck Eberhardt and Fred Zirzow of EZR have been fielding a non wing sprint car for the past two season in the Midwest. EZR began in 2014 with Bryan Clauson as the driver. Clauson earned EZR a Kokomo Speedway Track Championship. 2015 found Tyler Courtney behind the wheel. The combination found instant success with many top finishes late in the season.

"We owe thanks to Clauson for getting us started in 2014 and earning our first track championship. As well as Tyler and his father Tony, of Elliott's Trailer Sales, for their part in our team this past year. 2015 was a great year, but we are excited to go for the Amsoil USAC National Championship in 2016 with Boespflug. We are looking forward to new opportunities and cant wait to get the season started." - stated Fred Zirzow of EZR when asked about the upcoming changes.

The co-owned team will operate as the NineEight Motorsports / Eberhardt Zirzow Racing #98e. With the addition of equipment the newly merged team has sights on a full Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Schedule. The team will base their operation out of the Indianapolis area as it is the hub for non wing sprint car racing in the Midwest.

"I am excited for the new challenge of being able to compete in the entire 2016 USAC sprint car season. I am also excited to team up with great people that are as passionate about racing as I am. It's going to be a lot of work, but we are going to have a lot of fun along the way. The off season will be busy as we'll be getting things built and ready to go, but February will be here before we know it." - Boespflug reflects on the team merger for 2016.

The building process has already begun as the team prepares to head south to Florida in February to kick off the 2016 Amsoil USAC National schedule. The team will compete with Claxton Engines, FK Indy Shocks, and Maxim Chassis's. Expectations have been set high by all parties involved, but with the right partners in place tackling the 40+ race USAC schedule is very achievable.

NineEight Motorsports / Eberhardt Zirzow Racing is actively seeking additional sponsors to help increase the quality and longevity of the team. For additional sponsorship and marketing opportunities please reference the contact information provided at: www.chadboespflugracing.com/contact-us/

Oval Nationals is a Wrap - Boespflug Heads to Tucson

Plainfield, IN- The 20th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, CA is three nights of intense Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car competition. Teams traveling from as far as Canada to compete in the prestigious event. Oval Nationals is the largest paying non wing sprint car race on the USAC schedule. Chad teamed up with Gerry Cook, owner of the 04G DRC Chassis for the final 6 Amsoil USAC National races of 2015 that included the Oval Nationals. A few minor issues were worked out during Wednesday's practice night. Not having raced the car or for the team before this past weekend Chad had some adjusting to do to different equipment. In addition the team had some adjusting to do to suit Chad's likeness to the car. They quickly communicated with each other to make the car better going into the first of three nights of competition.

Qualifying time trials proved to be a challenge, although Chad was able to race through his heat race into a feature transfer position on the first two nights. A mid pack qualifying time meant a middle to back of the pack starting position once making the main events. Time Trials are crucial in the USAC format as they revert to time for the line up of the feature events for those who raced their way into a transfer via a heat race of b-main. Night 1 found Chad and the team struggling with setup resulting in a 23rd place finishing spot in the A-Main. Night 2 Chad and the team found some drive forward in the A-Main before being caught up in a pile up with 5 laps remaining. Front end damage was suffered as a result of no where to go when third place blew up stalling in front of Chad. With too much damage to repair in the work area their night was done. Night three saw Chad missing the transfer from heat race competition early in the evening as only two cars transferred on to the A-Main. Chad went on to transfer out of the b-main into the $25,000 to win Budweiser Oval Nationals finale. Chad started 22nd as a result of accumulated points from the previous nights competition. With minimal amounts of cautions throughout the 40 lap A-Main event Chad advanced to 14th using his momentum on the high side of the race track to his advantage. Passing eight cars he became eligible to win the Tony Jones Hard Charger Award for the second year in a row. Chad finished one spot short of the award finishing just behind CJ Leary who also passed 8 cars. The tiebreaker for the award was finishing position, since Chad finished one spot behind Leary was awarded hard charger. Despite not receiving the award the team found the most success overall on the final night at PAS. During the three nights of competition ,against 48 tough competitors, Chad had a successful California visit making all three A-Main events.

Chad and the Gerry Cook Racing Team have made their way to Tucson, AZ for the 48th running of the Western World Championship. This years Western World will be held at USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ, and event formally held at Canyon Speedway Park. The return to USA Raceway for Chad comes after at least a 5 year absence. The Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series will make its first appearance back after a few years as well. The same format from this past weekend will be used. Accumulated points through time trials, heats, and feature events will be tallied following each of the two preliminary nights. The top 8 drivers in points will advance directly into the dash for Saturday's Western World Finale. Making it into the top 8 will be tough with the level of competition on hand, but the goal for Chad and the 04G Team is to be locked in to Saturday nights show.

"We fought break issues early in the week, but made some changes to improve those. I did not time trial very well so that left me starting deeper than Id liked come feature time. USAC shows revolve around time trials, so a good lap is key. Having not raced this car before this past weekend some adjustments needed to be made to get me comfortable in the car as well as work out some kinks he car. Oval's is tough but to be able to make the show all three nights is a success. Looking forward to Tucson, we have made strides to getting the car closer to where we want so we should be good." - Chad Boespflug

Boespflug To Finish 2015 Out West

Plainfield, IN- With the 2015 Season winding down and the conclusion of the non wing sprint car season in the Midwest your only option to continue to race is to pack your bags and head West. That is just what 27 year old California native, Chad Boespflug, plans to do. In just a few short weeks Chad will pack his bags and head west for a two week stint on the West Coast with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Tour.

This is the third consecutive year Chad has the opportunity to finish out his season on the west coast. A trip to some that is just a hope and a dream due to lack of financial backing to make the long haul from Indiana or even to find a local west coast car owner with an open seat.

Chad is pleased to announce he will pilot the Gerry Cook owned 04G for the final six Amsoil USAC National races of 2015. The pair will first compete in the 20th Annual Budweiser Oval Nationals held at Perris Auto Speedway (PAS) in Perris, CA. A now three day event with a record purse of over $130,000. All three days will host a complete program with the Oval Nationals finale Saturday paying $25,000 to the winner. Following the three day stint in California Chad and the Gerry Cook Racing Team will travel to Tucson, AZ for the 48th running of the Western World Championship. This years Western World will be held at USA Raceway in Tucson, AZ, and event formally held at Canyon Speedway Park. Chad has competed in the Western World on numerous occasions, but when it was held at Canyon. Chad has competed at USA Raceway, but it has been a few years since he last was there.

"I am looking forward to heading west once again. Any time I get the change to race back in Cali I jump on the opportunity. It might only be a few times a year but I'm glad I am able to go back to PAS for Ovals again this year. I'm excited to go to USA for Westerns this year. I've had success at Canyon at Westerns in years past and hope to carry that over to USA this year as well.  I have to thank Gerry for the opportunity to even be able to compete in these final Amsoil USAC shows. Without him and the help of some additional sponsorship this west coast swing would not have been possible for me." -Chad Boespflug

Podium Finish with BOSS at Eldora

Plainfield, IN - This past Saturday Chad returned to a familiar ride, strapping into the Paul Hazen 57 for the Eldora Speedway Finale. The duoreunited to competed with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS).

A strong field of over 50 BOSS non wing sprint cars filled the pits. With standard BOSS format pill draw lined up six heat races that were followed by two b-mains. Chad started 3rd in heat race six. He searched all over the race track to gain ground and run down the race leader as he found himself in second after the start. Chad came up just a few car lengths short of the heat race win finishing 2nd. A 2nd place finish in heat race competition earned him a spot in the redraw for a-main starting position. Chad was the last to draw as a result of being in the last heat race. The 10 pill was the one that remained. Chad would line up 10th in the 25 lap BOSS A-Main.

The initial feature start worked to Chad's advantage as cars split and he drove right through the middle passing up to 6th. With a fast race car he was able to work his was up to the runner up position trailing leader Robert Ballou. A late race caution closed the gap of the race lead that Ballou had gained. Along with the yellow came a talented Bryan Clauson on Chad's heels. With five laps remaining Chad was unable to hold off Clauson and he finished 3rd. A strong podium finish for both Chad and Paul Hazen Racing.  "The 57 was awesome all night. I drove to 2nd from 10th, but Clauson got by me with 5 laps to go so we ended up third. I had a blast working with the old team again," Boespflug said following the a-main.

"I am thankful Paul asked me to race this past weekend to fill in while Cottle was away. We clicked right off the bat and we had a strong car all night." - Chad Boespflug

Chad will return to the Nolen Racing 20N for this Saturday's rescheduled Amsoil USAC Fall Nationals at Lawrenceburg Speedway. Fall National's will pay $10,000 to the Winner as it is the last Amsoil USAC race in Indiana for the 2015 Season. It is also Pretty in Pink Night at The Burg in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Be sure to wear your pink Boespflug Merchandise to show your support for Chad and Breast Cancer Awareness.

Eldora Finale on Tap for Boespflug

Plainfield, IN - With the Midwest Non Wing Sprint Car Season coming to a close only a few races remain. Most Indiana tracks have began wrapping up their season, if not closed for the year. Thus the need to travel out of Indiana to compete with the Ohio based Buckeye Sprint Car Series (BOSS) is one of the few options for competition this weekend. Eldora Speedway will host its Season Finale Sprintacular with the UNOH Allstar Sprints, NRA Sprints, and BOSS Non Wing Sprints.

Boespflug is pleased to announce he will reunite with legendary car owner Paul Hazen and once again climb aboard the Paul Hazen Racing 57 for this weekends BOSS portion of the Eldora Speedway Sprintacular. Boespflug was hired for this weekend as current Paul Hazen Racing driver Shane Cottle had a prior commitment to race in Syracuse, NY. The duo has found much success in years prior picking up a combined 13 Wins together, 1 of which an Amsoil USAC Sprint Car Win. With Boespflug currently a "free agent" driving the remainder of the 2015 Season for multiple teams was never out of the question. The opportunity to race whether it be in the same car or different isn't going to stop Boespflug from competing in as many races as he can to finish out the year.

"I am really looking forward to racing with Paul again. We had a lot of success in the past and work well together. Thankful for the opportunity to race for him once again after parting ways to race more USAC races at the end of 2014. We have maintained a great relationship on and off the track and positive we will pick right back up where we left off." - Chad Boespflug

With the support of Amsoil, Bell Helmets, BUDS Auto Sales, Butlerbuilt Seats, FK Indy, Hinchman Racewear, Kercher Engines, Midwest Shades, Physical Medical Consultants, Stida, and Revvd Up Industries the Paul Hazen Racing 57 will travel to Rossburg, OH to compete in the BOSS Event at Eldora Speedway. The event is schedule to roll off earlier than normal with hotlaps at 4:30pm followed by racing at 6pm Saturday.

4 Crown Nationals Recap

Plainfield, IN - Saturday Chad strapped in to the Nolen Racing 20N for the first time to compete in the Amsoil USAC 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway. A strong field of over 50 sprint cars filled the pits for the historic event.

Chad went out fairly late for qualifying. He managed to lay down a lap in the 16 second bracket that would place him in the top 15 in Amsoil Prosource Qualifying, timing 13th quick overall. Making the heat race inversion Chad would start 3rd in the first heat race. A great start saw him closing in on heat race leader Tracy Hines as he secured the 2nd place spot. Just before halfway in the heat race flames and smoke came from the Nolen Racing 20N. Most thought a blown motor the cause, however an oil fire was determined to be the problem. Chad managed to finish the heat race although dropping back to 6th and out of a transfer position as the oil that overflowed covered the left rear tire causing handling problems.

Missing the transfer in the heat race was disappointing as the team had a fast car very capable of making the feature if not winning the heat race due to a mechanical issue. Chad would line up 4th in the BMain and try once again to make it into the 4 Crown Nationals AMain. Once again Chad jumped out early battling for the top positions before fading back and missing the transfer. Upon returning to the pit area following the BMain Chad analyzed the car and discussed with crew members what they thought the reason for being so good early and then falling off so quickly. A tire sealing over appeared to be the cause. The team discussed what they could have done better to improve their results on the slick track conditions.

"Not the results we wanted but I had fun in the Nolen Racing 20N and with the Nolen Racing Team." - Chad Boespflug

Chad will return to the Nolen Racing 20N for this Saturday's Amsoil USAC Fall Nationals at Lawrenceburg Speedway.

Boespflug Secures Ride for 4 Crown Nationals

Plainfield, IN - Heading into one of the more historic USAC Events on the USAC Racing Schedule, Chad Boespflug sat without any secured ride plans. 4-Crown Nationals is a prestigious USAC event that has been competed in for decades. The event hosts all three USAC divisions together at Eldora Speedway located in Rossburg, OH.

Word in the racing community of drivers searching for rides and or owners with open seats travels rather quickly these days especially with social media. Therefore seats don't stay open for long. What was once privileged information that spread through the pit area now spreads rapidly over the internet. Thus the conversation of Boespflug being out of a ride spread over the internet just as quickly as it did at the track. Boespflug's ride situation quickly changed for the better and things began to fall into place following a few phone calls. Boespflug was contacted earlier this week in regards to this weekends race at Eldora while still searching for the right opportunity to fall into place for him.

Boespflug is pleased to announce he will be aboard the Gene Nolen Owned, Nolen Racing Amsoil USAC #20N Sprint Car for 4-Crown Nationals. "I am thankful for the opportunity to be able to team up with Gene for this weekend. He has good equipment and I feel we will be able to capitalize on that and put a good run together," says Boespflug when asked about his plans for this weekend.

With the support of Amsoil, Bell Helmets, Butlerbuilt Seats, Columbus Container Inc, Hinchman Racewear, Midwest Shades, Stida, and Revvd Up Industries the Nolen Racing 20N is prepped and ready to head east for the Amsoil USAC 4-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway Saturday.
