Boespflug Returns Focus to the Remaining Amsoil USAC National Events

Plainfield, IN Booking a 6am flight following a late night of racing is probably not at the top of most racers priority lists, but that was the flight booked by Chad Boespflug without question. Taking off from Charlotte, NC Sunday before the sun came up was high on his priority list as he had little time to spare to return to his Plainfield, IN based shop. Returning from what some would consider a disappointing weekend after failing to qualify for either night during World Finals, is the furthest from the truth for Boespflug.

"The goal was to get some laps under my belt, fine tune the car, and learn as much as I could since it was my first wing race. We did all of the above and them some, so I consider this weekend a win all around. Each time out I improved despite struggling with some brake issues that we fine tuned by Saturday. Its a different animal and I, nor the Capitol Renegade Team, expected to make the show given my lack of experience and the stout field of cars. I'm happy with the weekend and look forward to getting more wing racing experience in the future."  - Chad Boespflug reflects on his first weekend behind the wheel of a wing sprint car

"
Had a great time this weekend with Chad Boespflug and his crew chief Davey Jones. We got faster every time we got on the track and Chad brought it home in one piece. So thankful to them both for helping us sort through problems with our program, which there were many. I feel like if we could go back tomorrow we would be so much better prepared." - Wayne Quackenbush, Owner of the Capitol Renegade #91, driven by Boespflug during the World of Outlaw World Finals.

The since of urgency for Boespflug to return back to Indiana was due to the limited amount of time he had to make final preparations on his personal non wing sprint car before the Amsoil USAC National West Coast Swing. Even though Boespflug and Crew Chief Davey Jones were away wing racing for the weekend that did not mean the work stopped in the 98e camp. NineEight Motorsports / EZR Crew Member Jason Keefer was busy getting things done around the shop, things that often get pushed aside, but can not go unnoticed such as truck and trailer maintenance. When Boespflug returned early Sunday morning he quickly returned his focus to the remaining USAC National races. The entire 98e team assembled to get everything loaded and buttoned up as they only had a few hours to get things wrapped up. The team left Monday to tackle the 1,700 miles that lied ahead. The first stop of the Amsoil USAC National West Coast Tour is Arizona Speedway in San Tan Valley, Arizona, the new home of Western World. The two day event will be preceded by a practice night Thursday. Following the two days in Arizona the team will travel west an additional 400 miles before reaching the final stop of the USAC National schedule, Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. A little different format in the USAC schedule this year has the prestigious Oval Nationals at The P.A.S. playing host to the final points races of the season. Years prior the Western World was the deciding factor in finalizing the series points. It only seems fitting the way the schedule has been rearranged for the largest payout and most coveted title to be the final races of the season. Boespflug sits 6th in overall driver and owner points going into the final five races.

Boespflug discusses how this years west coast trip will be different than years past, - "I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to compete in both Western World and Ovals the past couple years for various car owners. I am excited about making the long tow for the first time with my own team. Having the chance to race these bigger races on the USAC National schedule in a car that I raced all season that I am comfortable in I think will be an advantage that I haven't had the past two years. We are just barely outside of the top five in points going into these final races and I think we are more than capable to advancing before the season comes to an end."

Boespflug Sets His Sights on a New Venture

Plainfield, IN-  The common household distinction between sprint car racing is does someone race wing or non wing. Both types of sprint car racing can be found throughout the US, New Zealand, and Australia. Wing versus non wing has heavy pockets of competition saturated across the country. The heart of non wing racing is throughout the state of Indiana and the heart of wing racing is primarily within Central Pennsylvania. California is a little different it plays the host for both wing and non wing competition alike. Although a California native where the opportunity to race either is prevalent Chad Boespflug chose the non wing path in his racing career. After relocating from the West Coast to the Midwest in 2007 Boespflug has called Indiana home for nearly the past decade chasing his passion of non wing sprint car racing. With what some would call a breakout year with his newly formed NineEight Motorsports / EZR Amsoil USAC National non wing sprint car team Boespflug has picked up five USAC National Wins. A successful year for the team and Boespflug's first full season chasing the USAC National schedule is coming to a close. Only five races remain, those in Arizona and California, when the series travels west the first two weeks of November.

With a break in the USAC schedule this week Boespflug will take advantage of the down time to try his hand at wing racing for the first time in his career. The opportunity has presented itself and came together in the past few weeks for Boespflug to compete in the final weekend of World of Outlaw competition this weekend at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Charlotte, NC for the Bad Boy Buggies World Finals. Boespflug will pilot the Wayne Quackenbush owned Capitol Renegade - Capitol Custom Trailers #91 Maxim Chassis for the three day event. He had the opportunity to test with the team at Susquehanna Speedway in York Haven, PA a few weeks back. With the help of his non wing Crew Chief Davey Jones the duo was able to improve in each practice session. By the end Boespflug, Jones, and Quackenbush were pleased with the progress and finalized plans for Boespflug to make the trip south. The weekend that lies ahead will be filled with the toughest competition wing racing presents throughout the WoO season aside from the Knoxville Nationals. The goal is to get Boespflug comfortable in the car and the three days of competition will offer a large amount off seat time for that to happen.

"I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to get the seat time and some more laps under my belt in a wing car. The only break in our USAC schedule means we have to travel to North Carolina to race. If we can put it in the show for Wayne Quackenbush and the Capitol Renegade Team that will be like a win for me. I'm going down there with an open mind and to have fun while gaining some experience. It will be a learning curve to overcome, but the practice session at Susky a few weeks ago was very helpful. We had the opportunity to shake the car down and make some adjustments prior to making the trip to World Finals, so I feel good about going. It's going to be a busy weekend of racing and then we fly home early Sunday to turn right around and make the tow to Arizona to start our west coast swing, so its going to be hectic, but worth it for the experience." - Chad Boespflug reflects on his upcoming venture.

A Podium Finish for Boespflug to End the Midwest Season

Plainfield, IN - Saturday rounded out the Amsoil USAC National Series Season in the Midwest with the rescheduled Jim Hurtubise Classic at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN. The nice October day drew a larger than normal crowd to the historic half mile to witness one of the most thrilling main events the series has had year to date. Some might argue the most intense,  on the edge of your seat racing action they have seen at T.H.A.T. in years.

The final night in Indiana for 2016 started with another top 5 qualifying effort by Chad Boespflug. Any time one can time within the top 6 takes a little weight off ones shoulders knowing that finishing in a transfer position in a heat race earns you a spot within the invert for the main. Boespflug raced his way to a third place finish in his heat race transferring and securing a spot within the invert.

Boespflug charged to the front and took over the race lead in the early laps of the race before a hard charging Chris Windom would quickly put himself in contention. Windom took the lead away shortly after Boespflug secured it from Justin Grant. That's when Boespflug began to go to work on the high side of the track as Windom rolled the bottom to try and regain the lead. Just after halfway Boespflug had gained within a car length of Windom. The two battled close, but Boespflug was stronger in turn 3 and 4 and was able to carry that momentum down the front stretch and retake the lead. He may have regained the lead but the fight was far from over. Boespflug and Windom raced side by side for many laps. Windom quickly moved up the race track and ran the same line as Boespflug knocking at his rear bumper closer and closer each lap. The two swapped breathtaking sliders in an attempt to out race one another off the corners. In the end Windom had a faster car exiting turn two and was able to get the drive Boespflug searched for all race off two to take away the lead with just two laps to go. A hard fought battle all 30 laps landed Boespflug another podium finish.

With just five races remaining on the USAC National schedule the series heads out for the West Coast swing in just a few weeks. The down time for Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team will be spent preparing for some of the largest races the series schedule hosts. As the series travels west the first stop is a new track for Boespflug as Arizona Speedway is the new venue for Western World this year. Following the two day show in Queen Creek, AZ they will travel 6 hours west to Perris, CA where the series points championship will conclude with the prestigious Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway.

Top 5 for Boespflug in California Sprint Week

Plainfield, IN - A trip to his home state of California filled the void in the AMSOIL USAC National Schedule for Chad Boespflug. The USAC/CRA California Sprint Week six race stint in the Alan Kaiser #69 Maxim Chassis was a good opportunity for Boespflug to race with some of the competition he will face at the end of the USAC National season during the Western Worlds and the Oval Nationals. Boespflug and Kaiser traveled over 600 miles to compete at five different venues beginning with the Louie Vermeil Classic two day event at Calistoga Speedway. Followed by a stop at Petaluma Speedway, Silver Dollar Speedway, Ocean Speedway, before finishing the week at Keller Auto Speedway in Boespflug's home town of Hanford, CA. Two podiums and three top 5's earned Boespflug and the 69 Team a 5th place finish in overall USAC/CRA California Sprint Week Points.

"We had a good week going we were tied with Bernal for third in CSW points going into the final night at Hanford, but mechanical failure ended our night early and we slipped back to fifth. I am happy with the week we had though with two podiums, a fifth, and an eleventh. I have to thank Alan Kaiser for having me the entire week and and providing me with the
opportunity to compete in the full week. I am looking forward to working with him in the future when the opportunity presents itself. It was a fun week being able to reconnect with fans, friends, and family back home, but I am looking forward to returning to the 98e this weekend." - Chad Boespflug reflects on his trip to California.

Fresh off a top 5 in USAC/CRA California Sprint Week points Boespflug returns to Indiana for the Jim Hurtubise Classic & Haubstadt Hustler. Friday Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team return to USAC National competition after being off for a few weeks. They will make the trip to the Terre Haute Action Track Friday and then head south to Tri-State Speedway Saturday. They return to both venues for the first time since Indiana Sprint Week. With just three USAC National races remaining in Indiana Boespflug hopes to capitalize and pick up a win in Indiana to add to his already five victory's that have all come on the road this season.

Boespflug Finishes on the Podium at Smackdown and is Headed to California Sprint Week

Plainfield, IN - As the largest weekend in non wing sprint car racing in Indiana comes to a close Chad Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team are pleased with their results in the Kokomo Smackdown. Kokomo Speedway in Kokomo, IN played host to the 5th annual three day event that draws some of the toughest non wing competition all season long. Despite the flooding rains, high winds, and even tornado's that took place throughout the entire weekend the O'Connor family provided a great racing surface all three days. Two preliminary nights of racing were not only complete USAC shows, but drivers earned points in qualifying, heats, and mains both nights to rank them for Saturday's Smackdown Finale.

Night 1 45 Amsoil USAC National Sprint Cars filled the pits in hopes of be the first to #ParkIt in BC's Victory Lane. The O'Connor family dedicated Kokomo Speedway's victory lane to Clauson during Wednesday's Celebration of Life. Boespflug was hungry to be the first to do so and was fast right out of the gate setting the bar high in ProSource qualifying taking the top spot early, but was surpassed by two drivers and would end up 3rd quick overall. A deep heat race invert starting position was expected as the first two nights followed traditional USAC format. Making his way through the heat race field did not seem to be a problem for the 6th place starter as he secured the second position. He chased down Tyler Thomas, the heat race leader, but had to let off and drop back to avoid contact with Thomas as he biked in turn 3 & 4. Boespflug avoided contact with Thomas as he regained control of the 04 and settled into 2nd behind him to finish the heat race. Finishing 13th after starting 5th was not the results Boespflug and the team had hoped for with such a strong car early in the night.

"We just missed the setup in the main and backed up to 13th. Our strong run in qualifying and the heat saved us in overall points." - Boespflug reflected on Night 1.

Another strong qualifying lap would start off Night 2 as Boespflug took over the top qualifying position yet again, but this time it was good enough to hold on through the remaining qualifiers. Earning his 2nd USAC ProSource Quick Time award of the season over 42 cars Boespflug was off to another good start to the night. He went on to advanced through his heat race into the main finishing 3rd after starting 6th. Boespflug advanced to 4th early in the main after starting 6th and was right in the mix as the top three battled for the lead just ahead of him. As the track changed and the bottom got a little better veteran Shane Cottle was able to slip by in the last few laps. Boespflug held on to finish 5th in the AMain.

Following the first two nights accumulated points were tallied locking the top 8 in points into the King of the Hill Challenge for Saturday. Boespflug was ranked 5th overall and would face 4th ranked CJ Leary in the first round of KOTH. Beating Leary in round 1 moved Boespflug on to face #1 ranked Thomas Meseraull where he was defeated in round 2, but locked in to the 3rd starting postion for the 40 lap Smackdown Finale. Boespflug put together 40 strong laps chasing down the leader after moving into the second position before halfway. Boespflug ran the top in 1 and 2 and the bottom in 3 and 4 trying to gain ground on the leader Kevin Thomas, Jr but did not have enough to take over the top spot.

"We had a strong car all weekend. I wish we could have had better results on Thursday, but two top fives for the weekend and a podium finish Saturday is the best Smackdown results I have had personally. I am fortunate to have made all 5 Smackdown AMains and have been able to improve each year. I have to thank my guys for toughing it out through the rain, mud, and heat to put a great car together for me all weekend. Now i'll take advantage of the break in the USAC National schedule and head home to Cali for California Sprint Week." - Chad Boespflug

Boespflug has been given the opportunity to compete in the entire USAC / CRA California Sprint week beginning Friday, September 3rd in the Alan Kaiser Special. The six race stretch begins at Calistoga Speedway for the 2 day 9th Annual Louie Vermeil Classic. He will then travel to Petaluma, Chico, and Watsonville before finishing the week at his home track in Hanford, CA.

"I always look forward to being able to race back in Cali when the opportunity presents itself. I was unable to make the trip last year due to a scheduling conflict, but all of the right things have fallen into place for me to be able to make the trip to compete in the whole week this year for Alan Kaiser. Being able to travel for racing is difficult at times since I have a full time job outside of racing, but thankfully they have been understanding and have allowed me to travel quite a bit lately. The nice thing is I have the ability to work away from the office as well, that allows me to race the whole week instead of just a few days. Alan has nice equipment so hopefully we click right of the bat and I can do my part and we'll have a successful week." Boespflug discusses heading home to California.

Boespflug Sweeps the Rock and Roll Gold Cup in South Dakota

Plainfield, IN - The two day USAC sanctioned non points Rock and Roll Gold Cup at Badlands Speedway in Brandon, SD was a tentative date on the NineEight Motorsports / EZR schedule. The team was indecisive if they would make the trip or not being that it was a non points race and they would have to rush back to Indiana for a quick turn around to get ready for the 5th Annual Kokomo Smackdown. With Badlands Speedway stepping up right before the event and increasing all prize and start money they decided they would head to South Dakota to participate in the inaugural Rock and Roll Gold Cup.

A different format was used for this USAC special event rather than the standard USAC format that we are all familiar with. Night one was a complete show with qualifying, heat races, and a B and A Main. Rather than the typical invert we are used to for heats following qualifying the heat races were lined up straight up from qualifying times. Accumulated points from qualifying and heat races would like up the AMain with no inversion. Boespflug was fifth overall in points earning him the fifth starting position in the AMain. Double file restarts was also an unusual thing for the USAC regulars as they would go double file in the main until 75% of the race had been completed. Boespflug used the double file restarts to his advantage to gain track position on the cars ahead. Boespflug restarted third just after halfway and used the double file restart once again to gain ground on Grant and Chase Stockon, the race leaded. Boespflug took over the race lead on lap 17 and had to defend his position with those double file restarts in a caution filled race until less than 9 laps remained. A late race open red allowed Chad and Crew Chief, Davey Jones, the chance to chat and make some adjustments to the 98e Maxim. Stockon chased him down one last time where they would race side by side down the front stretch on the final lap, but did not have enough as Boespflug pulled away to win Night 1 of the Rock and Roll Gold Cup for a $10,000 pay day.

Accumulated points from night one would please the top 10 into a scramble. The top 10 redrew for their starting positions in the scramble, Boespflug drew the fourth position where he would later finish as well. Boespflug's starting was advanced by one position for the main event than the night prior. He had proved on Saturday that he was able to make his car run wherever he needed it to go even if that meant pulling down off the top where he was the most comfortable to defend the bottom. A strong fast race car was prepared again by himself and his team to do battle for the $50,000 Rock and Roll Gold Cup finale. Another race filled with cautions was tough on Boespflug after he took over the early race lead. He had to defend his position as others battles behind him as Bud Kaeding did to pick of a car or two each restart. Just before the last red flag Kaeding had moved into the runner up position and was coming hard on the bottom. The final double file restart worked to Boespflug"s advantage as he could take the bottom away from Kaeding. Boespflug went on to sweep the weekend and pick up two of his biggest career wins to date in less than 24 hours.

"After the last red flag I knew I had to hit my marks with Bud behind me. He is a strong competitor and I knew I would have to earn it. This year has been going so well for our newly formed team and to carry this momentum into the Smackdown is big. We ran strong at Kokomo earlier this year we just need to be consistent Thursday and Friday so we are sitting towards the front in points come Saturday." -Chad Boespflug reflects on this past weekends success.

Boespflug now heads into Kokomo Smackdown $60,000 richer after sweeping the Rock and Roll Gold Cup. The team arrived home late yesterday evening. A little sleep and they are back at it again preparing the cars for tomorrows Free Fan Night that they will race in honor of Bryan Clauson following his Celebration of Life. Wednesday is a USAC non points race as well, however Chad and the Team will utilize the track time to prepare for the upcoming three nights of Smackdown that lie ahead.

"Coming off the biggest win of my career heading into Smackdown is a huge confidence booster for not only me, but my team as well. We will get things ready to go to night so we all can attend Bryan's celebration of life tomorrow afternoon. Smackdown is the biggest weekend of races we have in Indiana, its kind of like our
version of the Knoxville Nationals. I enjoy pulling into the track each night and seeing more and more motorhomes and fans fill the place. I have yet to win a USAC race in Indiana this season and have yet to find victory lane at Kokomo so winning any of the four nights would be huge." -Chad Boespflug

Amsoil USAC Indiana Sprint Week Recap

Plainfield, IN- Indiana Sprint Week has come and gone now for Chad Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team. The NineEight Motorsports /EZR 98e dawned a new look displaying their partnership with PAC Racing Springs / Schroeder Torsion Bars in neon yellow on the special edition black 98e as the title sponsor for ISW. The past two weeks were filled with extreme highs and some lows as they traveled the state of Indiana for seven night of racing with the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car Series. The Seven nights of racing in nine days was extended with one rain out during the middle of the week which extended ISW an additional night as they traveled back to Terre Haute, IN to makeup the event originally scheduled for Wednesday.

Each night averaged a field of 45 tough competitors as they entered seven different tracks. Along the way the competition shifted as they traveled from corner to corner of the state mixing in strong local competitors that might not normally travel with the USAC series. On any given night 20 plus cars were beyond capable of taking home a win if not the ISW championship title. Thus making each and every team that more accountable as they entered each night, it would be no cake walk for anyone. Time trials are always huge at a USAC event but this week even more so as each heat fielded approximately twelve cars. Making the heat race inversion and earning a top six starting spot each night was crucial with the car counts as less cars would transfer on through a heat race. Boespflug was able to put himself in that desired position six of the seven nights making things a little easier on him and the team giving them to opportunity to potentially transfer on without having to race the B or even C Main.

Boespflug only timed out of the top 5 twice with a quick time, second, two fourths, and a fifth. He set ProSource Quick Time at Bloomington Speedway Friday and in turn became the New Track Record holder. A second quick time trial run came the following night at Tri State Speedway. Strong qualifying runs for Boespflug definitely worked to his advantage transferring out of all but one heat race directly into the AMain throughout the week. Consistency is key in making the features throughout ISW. A rough night at Lawrenceburg started with a bad time trial and that put the team behind the eight ball all night. Having to run both the C and B main they thrashed to get the car going better each race and still came up short of making the AMain.

"All it takes is one mistake to through things off for the whole night and the we are caught chasing out tails trying to get back ahead. I did not feel comfortable all night and it showed in our results. We took a provisional as we are still in the hunt for national points and every race counts because you never know when someone else might have an off night. Unfortunately part failure ended out night early after taking the provisional. One bad night in comparison to the rest of the week we had isn't much in the whole scheme of things, but we learned from our run at The Burg and hope to improve when we return there in the fall." - said Boespflug in regards to missing the show at The Burg.

Three top tens, an eleventh, a twelfth, twenty first, and twenty second finish landed Boespflug in 7th place overall in Indiana Sprint Week Points. Following these seven nights of national points races Boespflug has advanced to the 6th position in overall USAC National points. As of now it is undecided what the next few races on the NineEight Motorsports /EZR schedule will be as USAC announced yesterday that the two day show at Granite City at the end of this month has been removed from the schedule. The next USAC race isnt until the end of August with the four day Smackdown event. Boespflug intends to fill in the gap in the USAC National schedule with a possible race or two.

Boespflug Gears up for 7 Races in 9 Days

Plainfield, IN- This past Friday night Chad Boespflug visited the Lincoln Park Speedway with the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Cars for the Bill Gardner Sprintacular. Boespflug timed 7th quick out of 32 cars. The heat race invert placed him in a 5th place starting position. Boespflug was able to make his NineEight Motorsports /EZR Maxim work wherever he needed to advance. He stole the heat race win away from veteran Jon Stanbrough with a last lap pass at the line. The feature invert landed Boespflug a pole starting position for the 30 lap AMain inside 2015's USAC Champion Robert Ballou. Ballou got the initial jump on Boespflug at the start. Boespflug trailed Ballou for the remaining 29 laps closing in on the #1 as he made his way through lap traffic. A late race yellow hindered the run Boespflug had on Ballou. Following the restart the two raced closed nose to tail, but Boespflug was unable to make the pass to takeover the race lead and finished in 2nd.

Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team are now gearing up for the start of the
prestigious Indiana Sprint Week. Impressive car counts and tough competitors from across the country will fill the pit area beginning Friday at Gas City i-69 Speedway. The Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car Series will travel across the state of Indiana to compete in seven races in nine days. Boespflug had the chance to sit down with Brad Brown of RTV6 Indianapolis to discuss what ISW is to him and what one can anticipate this week. The clip aired this past Sunday but can be viewed below or via YouTube.

This stretch of racing falls in the heart of the Amsoil USAC National schedule. All races are held in Indiana, but there will still be a lot of road time for teams as this week sees teams traveling north for the first two nights followed by a trip to the southeast corner of the state for night three. Then two days off for teams to regroup before the five day stretch to follow next Wednesday. Wednesday teams will travel west to the Terre Haute Action Track then back track towards central Indiana for night five before venturing south again for night six and seven. A full ISW schedule can be found below.

"ISW is an intense week of racing against some of the toughest fields we will see all year. When we travel out of Indiana we typically draw 15 competitive cars, but this week there will be double the competition on any given night. Lately we have been good on the big half miles so looking for a strong run at Terre Haute. We have also been working on our short track game too. Coming off a second place finish at LPS I think we have made improvements and gains in the right direction to be in the hunt at the short tracks this week as well. Everyone will be on their A-game this week so we need to be as well. The team has been working hard at the shop to prepare so were ready right out of the gate." - Chad Boespflug

Wait there's more during one of the off days the USAC stars will compete in the second annual RMAC Softball Showdown in Indianapolis to benefit Riley Children's Hospital. An event open to fellow drivers, fans, family and friend will be hosted this year across from IRP/Lucas Oil Raceway just outside of Brownsburg, IN. If you missed the RMAC Softball Showdown last year you'll want to make sure you add Tuesday's game to your ISW calendar. The fun filled event will sure to bring lots of laughs, money for a great cause, and possibly another chance to catch Team Captains Chad Boespflug and Kevin Thomas Jr. in a pair of gold glitter high heels once again.

"The event was a success last year and I am excited I was asked to be a team captain again this year for the RMAC Softball Showdown. Of course it is fun to compete and gang up on fellow drivers by donating to the cause to make them look silly in heels or a wigs, but the more rewarding part of this experience is seeing the racing community come together for an event like this." - Boespflug reflects on what the RMAC Softball Showdown means to him.

Boespflug Scores USAC Win #3 in the Heartland

Plainfield, IN-  Chad Boespflug visited the Heartland of America for four nights of Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car action this past weekend. The Midwest trip began with a stop at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, MN followed by one night at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, NE rounding out the weekend with a two day show at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, KS.

Jackson Motorplex was a new track for most USAC competitors, as the series had not been in attendance there since 1988. Boespflug did not have the results they were hoping for at the Minnesota half mile. He timed 7th overall and advanced two positions in heat race competition, but fell back two positions in the feature, finishing 9th.

Night two the team traveled four hours to just outside Lincoln, NE to Eagle Raceway. A track Boespflug had visited once before when driving the Hoffman 69. A 6th place time trial meant a deeper starting spot in the heat race, but that did not hinder him as he advanced to the runner up position finishing 2nd after starting 5th. A little better qualifying effort than the night before at Jackson would in turn work in Boespflug's favor placing him into the feature invert. A front row starting spot was earned as a result of being one of the top 6 fastest qualifiers to transfer on to the AMain. Boespflug started outside Chappel on the front row. Chappel edged Boespflug to lead the first lap. Making his way around Chappel he was able to take over the race lead. Leading the remaining 29 laps to go on to win his 3rd USAC National Win of the season and first in the state of Nebraska. Boespflug had a car that was capable of running the bottom in turns 1 and 2 and the top in turns 3 and 4. Using the different lane choice to his advantage Boespflug was able to hold off Bacon and Darland in the caution filled race.

Night three and four took the team to Kansas City where Boespflug would make his first start at Lakeside Speedway Saturday for the first of two nights of racing. Having a mid pack qualifying run both nights saw Boesplfug starting mid pack come feature time as well. Night one he advanced to a fifth place early before falling back to ninth. His car was better following a late race yellow and was able to make his way back to seventh. Appeared he could have possibly advanced a little more but ran out of laps to make up any more ground. Night two was a similar story as Boespflug also made most of his ground in the later part of the race. Making his way up up to fifth after starting tenth to score another top five finish on the weekend.

Four top 10's, one top 5, and a win made for a solid weekend in the NineEight Motorsports / EZR pit. The team has made its way back home to Indiana and will return this weekend with the two day Bill Gardner Sprintacular event at Lincoln Park Speedway.

Boespflug Victorious in the Garden State

Plainfield, IN-  Chad Boespflug competed in his third Amsoil USAC Eastern Storm Tour this past week. A series of five nights of racing at five different track across Pennsylvania and New Jersey is the slate of USAC Eastern Storm competition. Night one Boespflug and his NineEight Motorsports / EZR Team got off on the wrong foot at Grandview Speedway with a poor qualifying effort that saw them behind all night as qualifying is huge being it sets the field for every event that follows. Qualifying anywhere outside of the top 10 with USAC means you will start deep in the feature even if one makes the transfer into the main. Boespflug and Crew Chief Davey Jones worked to improve the car for qualifying the remainder of the week. The new Maxim chassis and fresh Claxton engine combination had what it took to put together good qualifying runs after tweaking a few thing. The adjustments made were good for a 3rd, two 5th's, and 6th place in ProSource qualifying on nights two through five.

Although the results did not show the best on paper for Boespflug he did manage to finish just outside the top 10 at Grandview finishing 12th and maintained a top 10 finish at Lincoln finishing 9th. The strong qualifying runs worked to Boespflug's advantage making the feature invert to start within the top six the final three nights of racing.

Night three took the Eastern Storm tour across the Delaware river from Pennsylvania into the Garden State of New Jersey to New Egypt Speedway. Boespflug had a fast race car right out of the gate topping the time chart in hot laps, then backing it up with a 5th quick time trial effort. Boespflug rolled out for the heat race at NES in the fifth position and was fast yet again finding momentum and making his way into the third position before the checkers fell. The feature inversion placed Boespflug outside front row for the start of the 30 lap AMain. CJ Leary grabbed the early race lead as Boespflug trailed. An early race caution was all that Boespflug needed to make his move around Leary to take over the race lead. Boespflug was able to hold off Robert Ballou and hard charging Bryan Clauson to pick up his second Amsoil USAC National Win of the season and first career win in the Garden State of New Jersey.

Night four and five of the east coast swing saw the tour traveling back into Pennsylvania to Port Royal Speedway and Susquehanna Speedway. Two nights that Boespflug and the team would rather forget as strong top 5 feature runs were both cut short due to mechanical issues.

"Coming off the win at New Egypt we knew this new Maxim was going to be good the rest of the week, and it was. Things just didn't go our way at Port and Susky. Both nights I feel we had a car capable of finishing in the top 5 where we were running, if not on the podium. A broken rocker arm sent us home early Saturday and a part failure ended our night once again Sunday sending us home with a wrecked race car. I could not turn and drove into the turn one wall running third. Ending any night with a junked car is frustrating, but while running up front is even worse. We will regroup and rebuild this week before heading to the Midwest for four days next week. I cannot thank my guys and all of our partners that made this week possible enough, without them this trip would not have been possible. " -Boespflug reflects on the ups and downs of Eastern Storm.
